Disc Rotors Get Hot!

Dissipating the heat build up is crucial

When a solid piece of metal is subjected to a large about of friction, as in the case of a driver applying the brakes to slowdown or stop a vehicle, heat builds up quickly.

If the heat remains in the disc rotors of a cars braking system it will affect the brake pads and reduce braking performance.

The design of disc rotors is varied and here we show you what is inside a ventilated disc rotor.

What does a DISC Rotor look like when it is no longer operational?

In the photo below it looks like we have cut one in half so you can see the internal structure. 'This one uses a series of diamond and teardrop shaped columns rather than straight vanes increasing the cooling efficiency compared to other conventional designs'.

In fact, this is what we removed from a vehicle 'as is' - completely worn down. How on earth did this car stop????

The vehicle came in with no brakes whatsoever ... they had been ground down so much that there was no surface left, no brake pads and even no backing plate. The caliper piston had been ground down so much that it popped out and all the brake fluid was lost. We just couldn't believe our eyes.

Never let this happen to your own car ... the danger of brake failure is very real.
